At Tuesday's City Council meeting (watch video), Prior Lake Police recognized two exceptional workers for their outstanding service and dedication to the community.

Officer Amanda Ley was named Police Officer of the Year after an extraordinary year of service. In 2025 alone, she recorded 52 DUI arrests, a reflection of her proactive approach to impaired-driving enforcement and her strong commitment to keeping Prior Lake roadways safe. Beyond the numbers, Officer Ley is widely respected for her professionalism, work ethic, and dedication to protecting the community she serves.

PLPD also honored Heidi Burton as Support Services Person of the Year. Burton served as the Department's Property and Evidence Technician, a critical role requiring accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail. Her behind-the-scenes work ensured the proper handling and management of evidence, supporting officers and investigations across the department. Burton recently stepped down from her position as she transitions to an important new chapter of expanding her family.

Both honorees were praised for exemplifying the values of the PLPD through their commitment, professionalism, and service to others. Congratulations to Officer Amanda Ley and Heidi Burton on their well-earned recognition and thank you for your contributions to the community.
