Hopes Portage, a new transitional housing community for Scott County residents, hosted an Open House and ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The event welcomed community members to learn more about the county and City of Prior Lake’s first transitional housing facility of its kind. Located across the street from Shepherd of the Lake Church. The 12-unit apartment complex is a collaboration between Scott County Action Partnership (CAP), and the Church.

“At this moment in time, Hopes Portage is a tangible example that multiple organizations and governmental agencies can come together and do great things for a community,” said Kirt Briggs, Prior Lake Mayor. “Today, we open more than a building—we open a door to safety, opportunity, and a stronger future for families across our county.”

Hopes Portage will provide comprehensive support services to families during their stay. Scott County, the project and facility owner, will oversee overall operations. CAP Agency will deliver coordinated services and case management, while Shepherd of the Lake and other nonprofit partners will offer continued support.

Services include access to a food shelf with fresh and shelf-stable items, welcome packs, and special events designed to support families as they work towards housing stability.

The first families are expected to move in mid-February.
