Prior Lake residents have the opportunity to dispose of yard waste at no cost through the month of May. 

Dakota Prairie Composting is offering its free yard waste drop-off event again this season, running May 1-31. The program is open to residents of Prior Lake, Shakopee, Savage, Chaska, Louisville Township, as well as Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) team members.

Residents can drop off brush, leaves, and other yard clippings free of charge at the compositing site located at 12386 Chestnut Blvd in Shakopee. 

Drop-off hours are Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The site will be closed on Sundays. Additionally, the facility will be closed on Monday, May 25.

A valid ID is required at the time of drop-off. More information about accepted materials and program details is available on the Dakota Prairie Composting website.
