ALL CLEAR UPDATE 6:30 p.m. Wed., June 17: 

Police and Fire officials say residents evacuated earlier this evening are now able to safely return to their homes. A gas leak prompted the evacuation around 3 p.m. Police say CenterPoint Energy was able to localize the leak to repair the impacted gas line. The gas leak and fire remain under investigation.

INITIAL STORY:

Fire crews quickly worked to extinguish the blaze. Following the fire, officials identified a gas leak in the area, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents as a precautionary safety measure.

CenterPoint Energy personnel are currently on scene investigating the source of the leak and working safely to stop it.

Residents and members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice while emergency crews continue their response and investigation.
