Snow Removal

The City of Prior Lake assumes basic responsibility for snow and ice control on City streets. Effective ice and snow control is necessary for routine travel and emergency services. After a snow event, plow routes prioritize high-volume streets and those providing access to schools and businesses.

Winter Parking Restrictions

City ordinance prohibits parking on any public street from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. November 1 through March 31. Parking is also prohibited on public streets following a snowfall accumulation of two or more inches, until the street has been plowed curb-to-curb. Any vehicle parked in violation of the ordinance may be towed pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 169-041. The city contracts with Allen's Towing Service in Savage (7215 W. 128th Street).

Pretreating & Anti-Icing

The City of Prior Lake has developed a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly program for keeping our roads safe during the winter months. A brine mixture sprayed onto streets before a snowfall effectively prevents  snow and ice from bonding or compacting to the pavement surface. Anti-icing operations may occur up to 48 hours in advance of an approaching storm or expected frost, or prior to weekends in which forecasts call for some form of precipitation.
