Please note that checks are deposited on a weekly basis, so please allow up to two weeks for checks to clear.
Payments to the City are not accepted after Nov. 3, 2025, and will be added to Scott County Property Taxes:
Any unpaid special assessment balance after Nov. 3, 2025, will be certified to Scott County with interest for inclusion on your property taxes over a defined number of years. The City of Prior Lake will not accept any special assessment payments between Nov. 4 and Dec. 31, 2025, in order to facilitate the annual certification to Scott County. After certification, the 2026 installment of principal and interest must be paid with the 2026 property tax statement to Scott County; payoffs of remaining balances are payable to the City of Prior Lake beginning in January 2026.
Special Assessment Search
Special assessments are added to BS&A when they are approved by City Council. BS&A does not display preliminary or proposed assessments nor interest that might be owed on deferred special assessments and there may be timing differences between Nov. 4 and Dec. 31, 2025, due to the annual certification to Scott County. Special Assessment Deferment
The City has adopted an ordinance allowing deferment of special assessment for homestead property which is either:
(1) Owned by a person 65 years of age or older or retired by virtue of a permanent and total disability for whom it would be a hardship to make the payments; or
(2) Owned by a person who is a member of the state National Guard or other military reserves who is ordered into active military service, as defined in Minn. Stats. § 190.05, subd. 5b or 5c, as stated in the person's military orders, for whom it would be a hardship to make the payments.

Applications for deferment are due within 30 days after the adoption of the assessment roll by the City Council and must be renewed each year by the filing of a similar application no later than Sept. 30.
